Starting a new semester can be super stressful. With all new classes comes all new deadlines, projects, and exams. You may tear up just looking at your syllabus, but stay calm there are ways to help you survive. Before you start cramming and procrastinating take a deep breath and make your life easier.
Stop Procrastinating.
As a fellow procrastinator, it is very hard sometimes to get things done early when you could be watching Netflix. But in reality, us procrastinators really need to realize that we are running away from our problems worse than Forest Gump and it will be way more terrible writing that paper that’s due at midnight at 11:45 pm. So yes, get things done early and get a planner that you actually will open so you are not in complete disbelief that your project is due tomorrow and your powerpoint is one slide deep.
Redecorate and Organize your Space
Whether you live in a dorm, house, or apartment, it is crucial to have a living space that provides a sense of serenity and calmness after a long day. Especially if you feel like every aspect of your life is in shambles. Find a place for your all your stuff using things like crates and baskets so you’re not living in your laundry and textbooks. If you don’t have much to organize with it sounds like you need a Target trip. And if you have too much, go donate it. Also adding simple little things like candles, pictures, string lights, defusers, and salt rock lamps seem minuscule but can really make your living situation feel homier.
Be Active
This does not necessarily mean an ordinary gym, but it can also be just that. However, if you’re tired of your work out routine and running on the treadmill think of trying something new. Barre, hot yoga and zumba classes may be foreign to you but sometimes trying something new in fitness can have you feeling more motivated and confident. Also meditating and finding time in your day to just sit and breathe can allow you to reflect and realize it’s not the end of the world just because you forgot about that quiz and shrunk your favorite sweater in the wash.
