Life gets a little boring for everybody sometimes, whether you are too busy, not busy enough, stuck in a rut, whatever.
But, my life never gets boring.
Why?
Because I know how to make even the smallest things feel magical.
And you can, too, you just have to know what to look for and how to look for it. Many things have sacred or spiritual symbolism, used in the past and present in religious texts, self-help books, as well as in math and nature.
Here are a few ways to take commonplace things, and let them be a reminder of how amazing life is when you get distracted by the details.
1. Seeing 11:11
At some point in all of our lives, we've had a phase where nearly every time we look at the clock, it says 11:11. And it starts to feel a little spooky... But that's okay because even scientists say that "events linked to the time 11:11 appear more often than can be explained by chance or coincidence."
The number 11 is said to be special, but 11:11 even more so. When you see this time pop up, it could be a signal to you that opportunities are opening up to you. It is also a reminder that your intentions should be positive, and that positivity is ready to flow towards you as long as you are open to it.
2. Seeing any repeated numbers
The same 11:11 rule applies to any numbers - if you open your phone and every time you see the time it ends in: 30, then you open to chapter 30 in your book, then you find 30 dollars, look up the symbolic meaning of the numbers 3, 0, and 30. (For example, 3 is the number of the trinity, and refers to divine help, protection and guidance.)
All numbers have a specific symbolism, and looking these up and writing them down will often have a strange significance in your life. You will probably start to see patterns in the meanings of the symbols you are seeing every day.
3. Butterflies
Every time I see a butterfly, I feel magical no matter what, simply because they are creatures of beauty. They symbolize transformation, as they undergo the amazing change from caterpillar to a winged creature. For the Greeks, they understood butterflies to be 'the souls of those that had passed away,' so in seeing a butterfly it is like getting a nod of approval from a loved one who has passed.
4. Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds are symbols of continuity, as their wings move in the pattern of an infinity symbol, which can refer to eternity and infinity. They are also a reminder to prioritize our energy - hummingbirds are non-stop working beings, yet they bring joy to everyone who encounters them. Make sure you are spending your energy on things that benefit you and those around you.
They are a positive reminder to pursue your goals with a sense of love, joy, and playfulness.
5. Rainbow
A rainbow is the product of a certain amount of sunlight and moisture in the air, causing refraction. Always remember how perfect the conditions have to be for a rainbow to appear in front of you. In Christianity, the significance of the rainbow concerns the cleansing of sin and evil, and the metaphor of the sun that comes after a storm.
Other cultures know rainbows to be a sign of luck (think of pots of gold at the end) or to be a message from the gods. They are also seen as a 'bridge,' whether that be the bridge between earth and heaven, or the bridge that the gods use to communicate with us.
Because of that last connection, many believe rainbows to be a sign from loved ones.
