Tackling the LSATs is a daunting task. After the PSATs and SATs, I thought major tests were out of my life forever.
I even became an English major, so that I could write papers instead of take exams. To be honest, that wasn’t the real reason, but escaping from all fill-in-the-blanks, matching, and multiple choice chaos was a definite bonus. I guess it was too good to be true because the idea of law school just had to pop into my head.
From wanting to be an artist when I was 4, to evolving into a wannabe chemical engineer or financial analyst, I always had big plans for my future. After realizing I could not draw or paint, and hated math and most science, I was sure I was going nowhere fast.
Then, "Legally Blonde" came out. Elle Woods is my dream girl, a strong and independent, albeit fashionable, lawyer. After seeing the movie and wanting to be her, I realized that the legal field was actually something that interests me.
Although I wish I could be half as great as Reese Witherspoon, I’ve accomplished everything on the checklist so far: getting into a great college, pledging a sorority, trying to dress fashionably, and dealing with my own “boneheads.”
Next up: LSATs.
As I sit in the classroom for several hours today, tackling the dreaded logic games, I go forth with the knowledge that I am one step closer to achieving my goals and making my dream a reality.
Although it may be a silly movie, "Legally Blonde" helped me to discover my passion for law and my determination to pursue law school. So with that, bring on the LSATs!
Whether it’s the GMAT, MCAT, or LSAT, good luck to all of the fellow test takers out there!
