I am loyal to my home state, the beautiful New Jersey, especially the area in which I have lived my entire life. Ah, Bergen County. You may have seen us on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" (thanks Bravo). To answer your question – no, we are not all table-flipping, Range Rover or BMW driving, stuck up people, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t know a handful of those myself. Never realizing how much the rest of the world is different from us New Jerseyans, I left the Garden State on a four year journey to getting my degree – in South Carolina. Talk about a culture shock; I am in a completely different world down here.
Everywhere else is nice, but nowhere is home like New Jersey is.
1. Driving
I got my license at 17-years-old. Thanks to Jersey, I know how to drive aggressively and defensively. I know how to drive in the snow, the rain, anything nature can throw my way. Never learned how to pump my gas though...
2. Diners
I never realized that we are one of the only states to have legitimate diners. No, I am not talking about IHOP or Denny’s. Diners are our go-to for hungover breakfast.
3. The Shore
My personal favorite. Our beaches are beautiful. We take pride in going Parkway South to the shore.
4. The Accent
Water. Coffee. Dog. We all say these words the right way. The rest of the country is wrong. Although, if you ask someone in South Jersey versus North – you may get competing answers too.
5. The City
Living so close to the city gives us the opportunity for incredible weekend trips or night outs. With Hoboken, NJ overlooking the Hudson and only being a quick train ride to NYC – we are blessed to be able to.
