As the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea is getting closer, worldwide partner Procter & Gamble aspires to inspire those around the world to take a glimpse of what is seen before them.
This company preaches aspiration to a world where men and women are equal.
Watching athlete by athlete participate and compete to pursue lifelong dreams, achievements, and abilities is nothing but pure admiration.
The “Thank you, Mom” campaign created by P&G expresses the athletes who have overcome the bias. Skaters just as Michelle Kwan and Zahra Lari express in their interview how powerful they have become with the help of their mother and confidence of individuality. Along with many other athletes and participants, #LoveOverBias has caught my attention for quite some time.
Each individual in the stands of the Winter Games, sitting on the couches watching from a tv, or simply ignoring the games all together and doing other tasks, were born. If you are seeing this commercial and this article, you are living your own dreams, achievements, and abilities in your own way. As a mother, her eyes are what matter most, because she is the one who understands and knows the most. The growth and potential you have is given from your mother’s voice and confidence in you.
The athletes that are from different households, cultures, ethnicities, races, etc. all came for the game, the love, and the support. I stand with #LoveOverBias. If you are one who does not, you simply have more negative attitude to express the scheme of life and the life of others. The link below displays thee campaign video, and let me tell you, get your tissues ready and your mother close by, because your jaw will drop in true agreement to say “Thank you, Mom”.
To all of the athletes participating, your mother is proud.
To my mother who has proven my intelligence and has pushed me to my fullest, I am thankful for you.
But, I am also proud of my mother to give the force and drive to allow others to be put first. Just like all mothers, you are their life now. I hope people can utilize this campaign as a reference and reminder that it’s not cool anymore to make fun of your mom or be embarrassed by her. It is cool to embrace who she is and stand by her, just like she will always stand by you.
I love you mom, I love you mothers who motivate the world, and I love you athletes, who have overcome the hardest times and have gotten to where you are today.
To P&G, amazing work. To the Olympic Games, cheers to another year and goodluck to all the contestants.
