Since it is Valentine's season, I'm sure your feed has been bombarded with "I love the love of my life even more this Valentine's Day" versus "Why Valentine's Day Sucks and is a Hallmark holiday." Well, I am to shake things up and pop up on your newsfeed as a new and marginalized group.
I love love love Valentine's day and I am single as a Pringle.
Honestly, what is not to love about Valentine's Day? First of all, who said it had to be celebrated with a significant other? Celebrating Valentine's Day only means celebrating the love that surrounds your life. I like going out with my friends, getting the yearly Valentine's card from my grandpa, and meeting new people who are also out celebrating their freedom on this glorious day.
If I were in a relationship, which I have been, the fun of Valentine's Day gets sucked right out and quick. The stress of planning a date and preparing gifts completely overwhelms the entire meaning of the holiday. People in relationships spend more time worrying about v-day than experiencing and enjoying it, fact.
Last, but certainly not least, the best part of Valentine's Day is the endless amount of sweets. If you know and love Valentine's Day as well as I do, you know that all candy at any convenience store is half-off every February 15th. And that is something worth celebrating.
