"Go, go Power Rangers! Go, go Power Rangers! You Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!"

Whenever I hear those lyrics accompanied by a guitar riff, I cannot help but be carried back into my childhood. When I was a kid, "Power Rangers" was the best TV show ever, and I would watch it first thing every Saturday morning. More than anything, I wanted to be a Power Ranger when I grew up. Sure, I also wanted to become a police officer and protect people, but as a Power Ranger, I would be able to do all that and get my own morpher, colorful costume, and zord.

I was born in 1996, so "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" had already been around for a year. I don’t know for sure what series I started out with since I watched the older series like "Zeo"and "Turbo"at one point or another, but I am pretty sure that I grew up alongside "Wild Force." The Red Lion Ranger was my favorite character for a long time. I would mimic his heroic battle poses, and I remember how pumped I was for the “Forever Red” episode with all the prior Red Rangers.

Whenever I talk about Power Rangers, I cannot help but go down memory lane. But why was Power Rangers such an important part of my childhood? And why have I not outgrown Power Rangers?

Remember, I started watching "Power Rangers" as a little kid, so I was easily captivated by the bright and colorful costumes, the random epic explosions, and the awesome battles between monsters and the megazord. Even though the show was pure camp, and every episode and season was more or less the same thing, I was easily entertained, and "Power Rangers" added a new world of adventure to my imagination.

"Power Rangers" was always about “teenagers with attitude” who were chosen to be the protectors of the world and fight against some evil villain and their army of monsters. The Rangers were always portrayed by a diverse cast who each had a specific skill that made them invaluable to the team. As a kid, the life of a Power Ranger was, if not real, possible. I wanted to be a skilled fighter like the Power Rangers and fight monsters every day. I think that is probably one of the reasons why I was so passionate about martial arts and kept up with it for so long. I was training myself to be a Power Ranger.

However, as I got older, I think I realized that "Power Rangers" was no longer for me. I started to see how ridiculous it was and how I was outgrowing all the things that I loved as a kid. "Power Rangers Mystic Force"was the last season that I really watched. Now, I find it kind of dumb that I thought that I was outgrowing "Power Rangers," since around the time I stopped watching "Power Rangers," I was starting to become more obsessed with comic books and superheroes.

Ever since the "Power Rangers" movie was announced awhile back, I’ve been reminiscing about my love of "Power Rangers." I’ve been listening to all the "Power Rangers" theme songs, watching old clips on YouTube, and my friend even let me know that every season of "Power Rangers" is streaming on Twitch.

The new movie has given me a sense of nostalgia, reminding me of the kid I used to be. I remember wanting nothing more than to be a hero that protected the world and defeated evil. I remember what it was like to want to be recognized as something special and to be chosen to serve a higher purpose. After going to see the movie the other night, I think that I can make a pretty good guess that I am not the only one reliving my childhood.

So, will I ever outgrow "Power Rangers"? I don’t think so. "Power Rangers" might not be as important to me now as it was when I was a child, but it is still something fun for me to remember that I will never want to forget or let go. Now, if you'll excuse me… it’s Morphin time!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
