"I Hate Girls"

What do you hate about girls? Do you hate the way they carry you for nine months? Bring you to life? Comfort, hold, and nurse you? Do you hate the way the feed you when you cry? Do you hate the way they wash your hands for you? Or the way the brush your fly away hairs from your face?

What do you hate about girls? The way they hold hands in crowded places? Do you hate the way they text you to make sure you are home safe? Or how they lick their thumb to wipe something off your face? Do you hate how they put their hand over your open drink when you leave for the bathroom? Is it the way they tell you how beautiful you look dressed up on a Friday?

What do you hate about girls? How the hold the back of your head when you cry? Or is it the way they let you share a bed with them when you're home sick? Do you hate the way they touch your face when you're visibly upset? Or the way they pull you aside when you seem shaken up? Is it the way the cover you in a blanket when you lay down on a bad day? Or the way they'll hug the air right out of you?

What do you hate about girls? The way the push their dessert to the middle of the table for you to try? Or the way they point the straw to you to take a sip? Do you hate the way they offer to get you a coffee before the morning shift? Or how the offer you their sweater when they notice you have goosebumps? Does it bother you the way they link their arm through yours when you're walking to class?

What do you hate about girls? Do you hate the way they follow their hearts? Or the way the water the plants? Do you hate the way they teach your class? Or the way they love? Or is it the way the make sure you're okay?

What do you hate about girls? The way the sun hits their cheeks in the spring? Or the way their skin is always flushed? Do you hate the way they straighten their skirts or button their shirts? Do you hate the way the lean out the window to yell to the neighbors? Or do you hate the tone of voice in which they ask about your day?

What do you hate about girls? The way they offer to bring you lunch to class? How they check in on you when you don’t respond? Do you hate the way their fingernails shine red polish? Or how their makeup looks like art on their eyelids? Do you hate the way they run their fingers through your hair when you tell a story? Or how they put their hand on your knee to get your attention?

What is it? What is it that seems to drive everyone so crazy? What is it that makes you hate girls? I’m dying to know.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
