Love Like God Wants Us To
From House To Home Blog

I am a Christian and proud to be one. Nothing will discourage me. And I am standing up for us true Christians. I am appalled at the way these "so-called" Christians are acting towards the LGBT community. This is not what God has taught us at all. With that being said, I am not here to offend anyone’s beliefs or shake up a debate. I know what the Bible says. I know what Leviticus 20:13 in the Old Testament says. You have your opinion. This is mine. I just want us to love more. This goes for everyone, not just Christians—we all need to love more. My hope is we all stand up together and have more love than hate.

I have read a lot of hate towards the LGBT community by “so-called” Christians. And then there is hate toward us Christians, disrespecting the Bible and calling us out. What happened to respect for each other as human beings? Why are we fighting fire with fire? What these “so-called” Christians are saying against the LGBT community, especially about the recent attack, is not Christian at all. It’s pure evil. No one should wish hurt upon anyone. You “so-called” Christians can’t see that. God would never wish hurt upon anyone. I firmly believe He loves us all as we come. Imperfections and everything. I apologize to everyone for the bad representation of Christians. That is not Christianity. That is not us. As a Christian, I was taught to love one another. To know that I am by no means perfect, and shall not judge anyone. It is not my place and anyone else’s place other than the Lord. And we do not know what he will say on Judgement Day. Do not even dare to think that you know what God will say, because you do not. Only God does. Read the whole Bible and listen to the words before you speak out.

Some will say that LGBT is a choice. And some will say they are born that way. OK, it is your opinion on these things. Just like other people have their opinion on others. It’s OK to have different beliefs and opinions. But it is not OK to force your belief or opinion on others. Respect other’s beliefs and opinions. It’s simple.

Now, it is OK as a Christian to not agree with a lifestyle. I will say that. I am not saying that what is in the Bible is wrong. I know what the Bible says. But what I am saying is simply that we are not standing firm in our faith. We are judging each other, and hating. We are growing weak and falling to temptation. Remember how powerful love is. You don’t have to like or agree with something or someone. But when you start to hate, you fall to temptation and become weak, and the Devil wins. But when you love, you become powerful and overcome temptation. You have the right to not agree with something. But having hate and wishing hurt upon anyone, I don’t care what lifestyle, race, political views they may have, is just plain wrong and evil. We are taught to love one another and not to judge. It is in the Bible. No one is perfect. We all live a different life. Who are we to judge? Leave the judging up to God himself. That’s the way it should always be. I just don’t understand how you “so-called” Christians think you are so perfect and you have the right to judge someone for the way they live. You can believe what you want. You can disagree with someone’s lifestyle. You can even disagree with this article. You can say what you want. But please stop disrespecting the Lord, and wishing hate and hurt upon people. It’s evil. Hate is evil. Hurting others is evil. I wish we all could learn to love the way God has loved us. The way Jesus stood on that cross and gave everything for our sins, because he loved us for who we were. Love people for who they are. Because love wins. We are all equal in the eyes of the Lord. To my family, friends and everyone out there I love you for who you are.

"This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you." — John 15:12

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
