A Love Letter To Dunkin' Donuts

Dear Dunkin',

It doesn't take much to cause a young college girl to fall in love.

You never know when you’ll come across that special someone with everything you need and more. Someone new, with the look. The taste. The refreshing burst of energy.

That’s all it took for me to fall in love with you, Dunkin’. You made falling in love so easy.

One sip and one bite was all it took.

“A large caramel iced coffee with light ice, light sugar, cream, and an extra pump of caramel, and a sprinkled strawberry donut” was all I said, and the rest is history.

You’re someone I can always count on, Dunkin’. With your hours starting before the sun even shines and ending long after it sets, you always make yourself available, which is good for a clingy girl like me. It’s hard to not be addicted to something like you. I’m being serious when I say that I can easily spend all of my money on you, but I like spending money on the people (or things) that I love.

You make me look forward to every day. When going to bed at night, I can’t help but always think about you. I lay in bed and imagine how amazing that warm donut and cold coffee will be. I’ll always make time to get you before class to start my day. In fact, I always plan my schedule around you.

I feel like I’m in a struggling long-distance relationship when it’s the middle of the day and I don’t have you in my hand.

You understand my broke college student lifestyle. I’m willing to pay full price for my large iced coffee in the morning, because, let’s be honest, I get a little desperate for the caffeine. But you never fail me with your happy hour.

Pulling up in the drive thru between 3 to 6 p.m. is the happiest you will see me all day. It’s like you know I’m constantly staying up later than I need to be, but hey, I’ll take it, for only a dollar.

YEAH, A FREAKIN’ DOLLAR.

Discovering coffee was one of the best things to happen to me, but discovering Dunkin’ changed my life forever.

You’re my morning wake up call and my 5 p.m. motivation. I can see us having a bright future together, because I can’t see myself functioning without you.

Love Always,

Kelly

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
