A Love Letter To Dogs

Whoever let the dogs out did me a huge favor.

This one goes out to all the dogs — regardless of color, size, breed, or amount of slobber.

Whenever I'm lucky enough to see one of you when I'm out and about, I need to take a second and catch my breath. I feel my heart skip a beat or two every single time. When I'm surrounded by people, I can't help but think about how I'd rather be spending time with one of you. That's how I know it's love. I can only hope the feeling is mutual.

If it were possible to spend time with each and every pup out there, I would get to work right away. I don't want to imagine a world where a dog goes without a back scratch or late-night treat. I always carry a few extras just in case. You're all special and unique in your own ways and I think that deserves some recognition.

I don't even care if you have a tail or not. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I'd certainly never judge. There's no such thing as "ugly," my friends because it's what's on the inside that counts. I promise to dedicate my life to making sure that everyone's insides are filled with the perfect amount of love and care.

I cannot comprehend the fact that no matter where I go on this planet, a breed is sure to be there. I wish there was a long enough leash to hold you all. Good would triumph over evil and there'd be no such thing as conflict. We'd go for walks and play with toys and I'd even teach you how to be nice to cats.

I can't believe how blessed I am to live on the same earth that all of your paws have walked on. I feel inspired when one of you catches a toy in midair. I feel emotional when one of you cries out. I feel appreciated when I get a lick or two. Most importantly, I feel loved when my dog snuggles right up next to me and everything is right in the world.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
