After watching Harry Style’s acting debut in Dunkirk, I felt the need to go home and watch every interview Harry has done since going solo, and listen to his new album. And boy, was this a mistake because it made me remembered just how much I loved this boy from back in my One Direction phase.
At this point in my life, looking back I can honestly say Harry Styles was the first love of my life and I am no longer afraid to admit that. When I was in late middle school/early high school and One Direction was at the peak of their popularity, I was a proud One Direction fan and I had every T-shirt, CD, poster, bracelet, magazine, and concert ticket stub to prove it.
But then as I got older, in the late high school years, I wanted to be treated like an adult so I constantly tried to hide the fact that I previously let One Direction consume so much of my life. But now here I am reverting back to my old early high school self, readmitting my love for Harry Styles.
Harry Styles recently broke into the movie industry through being one of the main characters in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. And let me just say the casting crew made a smart move by choosing him because I would have otherwise probably had no interest in seeing a War movie. However, I was so invested in Harry’s character’s story line and I realized at that point I was still hooked on Harry Styles.
There are so many reasons to love Harry beyond his charming smile and luscious locks. Harry is genuinely a good person and an extremely talented artist. A lot of people did not like One Direction because their music was very basic “teen pop.”
But regardless of the lyrics or genre, Harry was singing, he has always had a unique and impressive voice. His new solo album can be categorized more in the alternative genre and from One Direction to now you can really see the versatility in his voice. You can’t honestly tell me that when you first heard Sign of the Times it did not give you chills.
Harry Styles is also just an easy going, kind person. Throughout his career, he has definitely had a handful of encounters with psycho fans and hateful critics but he has always kept his cool and handled such situations with poise and kindness.
In every interview he is such a goofball and very personable. Not to mention when One Direction went their separate ways and each member started their individual careers he was never a jerk about it. Some other former members tried to gain their individuality by trashing One Direction, but Harry always expressed how grateful he was to have the experience and the support he has received throughout.
I think I can speak for a lot of old and new Harry Styles fans saying it has been interesting to see all the things he’s done with his career and am excited to see what he’ll do in the future So yes, I love Harry Styles a little more than I probably should for never actually having met him, but I’m a Harry girl and proud, plus how could you not love that cheeky smile?
