I Loved Harry Styles At First Sight, And You Should Too

He's more than just an object of infatuation.

Harry Styles is one of three people whom I loved at first sight. (If you're wondering, the first two were Luke Skywalker of the original Star Wars trilogy and Daniel LaRusso from the Karate Kid.) Everything about him was perfect to my eleven-year-old self: his crazy curly hair, his pretty eyes, his crooked smile, his dramatic stage presence.

Undoubtedly he had, and still has, all of the qualities of a star. He has the talent and the charisma and the all too important good looks. He even has the perfect name for a star.

But there's something more to Harry-- something that made me love him at eleven and makes me love him still at nineteen. I think that something lies somewhere in his sense of humor. It's somewhere behind that authentic smile, that genuine laugh.

It's somewhere in his unashamed love for his sister and his mother and step-father. It's somewhere in his unrelenting humility and kindness. It's somewhere in those lyrics he writes and performs himself.

It's odd that someone I have never met could teach me so much about unconditional love. Because I've watched him grow as an artist, I've learned what it means to be a proud and supportive person.

Although there must be more than a thousand miles between us, through his music we have bonded. Perhaps more than anyone, Harry has taught me how music binds people together. He taught me how we can truly see and admire someone else's soul through music.

The best part is that I don't have to wonder if he comprehends something like that. He has frequently spoken about the power of music and how music has inspired him. I just hope that even though the entertainment industry often values the wrong things about people, he never forgets that countless people genuinely love him for his authenticity.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
