6 Reasons I'm The College Girl Who Actually LOVES Final Exam Season
@nickmorrison

Yes, you read that right. There are a few reasons why I LOVE final exam season. It is such a stressful and sleepless week for a lot of college students. Exam season brings a range of emotions from worry to self-doubt. But here are some reasons to smile and (more or less) look forward to surviving finals week.

1. Calories do not count.

Feel free to indulge in all of the sweets you want cause it's finals week! So far I have had ice cream probably every other day and we're not even going to discuss the number of chicken nuggets I've had to eat. Don't feel guilty about the calories, you've got 5 exams to take and all of the nugs to eat.

2. Sweats. Yoga Pants. Hoodies.

The best articles of clothing ever. When I am rolling up to my final classes and exams, I probably should be sent right back home. Most of the time my hair hasn't been brushed since the day before and the mascara I am wearing is from last night because I didn't wash my face.

If you can't handle me at my syllabus week you can't handle me during finals, am I right?

3. Laying in bed all the time.

This is my favorite one. Nothing feels better than forgetting the stress of finals (for a little anyway) and just laying in bed watching Netflix. I know one thing for sure is that I cannot wait to fix my sleep schedule.

4. No need for makeup.

Fresh face for days. Normally I don't wear makeup to class but it makes it even sweeter when I don't care about my appearance during finals week because we're all looking rough.

5. We can blame everything on it.

Haven't showered in days? Finals week. Haven't done your laundry? Finals week. Did you drop $100 at Target when you just needed shampoo? Finals week.

The past couple of days I feel like I have been wearing this phrase out. Don't be ashamed, use it for everything!

6. We're able to cry it out without judgment.

I know that I am one to stress cry all of the time. It just gets worse during finals week. But guess what? Finals week. So don't feel bad if you're studying so hard that your brain can't take it anymore or if you can't find the will to get out of bed to study, it's okay. We are all there right now.

These are just some of the reasons why I love finals week. Even though it is the hardest times out of the semester, I know that we can get through this and we will all be okay. We have gotten through semesters before this and we will get through semesters after this. Just remember, no grade or exam score defines your purpose in your schooling or life in general. Do your best, and I promise everyone, including me, will be proud of you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
