When in school and you are given a book to read do you ever get that; "Oh great" feeling? I know when I was given this book I wasn't enthusiastic. After all, it sounds like a self-help book. Those were never in my interest category for literature. So I could either have chosen not to read it, and rick failing reading quizzes, or just sit down for a few minutes a day and read a few chapters.
So, as a smart person, I sat down and dived deep into the thrilling life of Bob Goff. I soon found out that this book wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It is actually very interesting.
In chapter one, I read about a young man who was struggling with identity, just like I am. He, of course, did something braver than I did. He left his home, and family and wanted to just go and mountain climb and Yosemite National Park. The interesting thing is that he wasn't alone.
An older mentor figure, Randy, said three words to him "I'm with you.". Bob didn't really care that Randy was coming with him. Trouble soon arose as Bob found that this wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. Long story short they went home after three days because they ran out of money and couldn't find work.
When they returned home Bob found out that Randy had just gotten married and because he saw that Bob needed help he left his new bride for a few days to help him. Bob saw that no matter what Randy really was with him.
This chapter really hit me. I go through so much hardship in my life and I wish that there was someone with me. When I read about Randy I found that God is always with me. He never leaves me and whatever I do he just says, "I'm with you Kendra.". He may not like what I am doing, but he is still with me.
With this, it helps me walk through life with a new viewpoint. No matter how alone I feel there will always be someone with me. I will never be alone.
