I Love College, But I Am Ready For Break

As the end of my first semester of college approaches, I can finally say I have made it. After midterms, finals, late-night study sessions in the library, and the many lectures, I feel like an accomplished college student and am very proud of myself that I have survived this far of my freshman year.

Although college is extremely stressful some days, there are also many times when college is fun, exciting, and adventurous. The parties on the weekends, the friends that I have made so far, and the great professors I have had are only a few elements of college that I love. College is pretty wonderful, but I am so ready to be home.

There comes a point in the semester when your body is run down, your brain literally feels fried, and you’re just downright exhausted. After all of my hard work I have put in this semester, I am just ready to be back in Maine and take a little break from college. Home is where I can relax, spend time with family and friends, and, of course, eat good, wholesome food.

Christmas break will not only rejuvenate me for the following semester, but I will have time to work and make extra cash, catch up on some well needed and deserved sleep, and most importantly, I won’t have to think about deadlines, essays, math homework, and history lectures.

Merrimack, you have been great so far, and I cannot wait to see you in a month!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
