I love Christmas as much as the next person, trust me. It is my second favorite holiday, right behind Halloween.
I absolutely love the atmosphere it provides- all the family parties, the lights, the decorations, and the overall joy it brings to people. It really is the most wonderful time of the year.
However, I cannot stand Christmas music.
I know, call me crazy. Call me a fake fan. Call me a hater.
The only two days I can actually handle listening to Christmas music is on Christmas eve and Christmas day. Maybe it is because right after Halloween people seem to skip right over Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. Radio stations start playing Christmas music, holiday-themed commercials start running in between your favorite television programs, and stores start advertising their holiday sales. This goes on for almost two whole months and by time Christmas rolls around, I'm burned out.
While there are a number of reasons why I am not a fan of Christmas music, I put the full blame on my mother for my distaste towards Christmas music. She is the type of person who is already listening to Christmas music as soon as November 1st rolls around. Actually, there are few times I can remember her playing it before Halloween happened. To make matters worse, she plays it until January 1st, sometimes even longer. And that's all she listens to! She's listened to it so much when I was growing up that now, I'm just burned out.
I don't get the hype over Christmas music, either. It's honestly the same ten songs just sung by different people! Some songs are jams, I will admit that, but I can only hear the same song so many times before I go crazy.
Call me Ebenezer Scrooge, call me the Grinch, call me a fun-sucker or whatever you wish, I am not a fan of Christmas music and would prefer it if you and the rest of the world toned it down. Let's enjoy Thanksgiving first and then you can sing "Jingle Bells" all you want.
