When I was a kid, I had light brown hair. It was like a caramel color. The length was short, but not too short--almost shoulder length. I liked it for a while, but then l got into high school and I started falling in love with the scene hair craze. It was the hipster style that made me feel more like myself so I started fantasizing about changing my hair. And boy, I have changed my hair so much since then.

In 9th grade, I would trim my hair ever so often and kept my honey blonde highlights (from the box) going. I had no interest in changing it much. But 10th grade was when I started getting into changing my hair often. I had almost blonde hair from the sun and I started letting it grow a lot. I started looking at black, purple, and red hair and thought about getting the "comb over" bangs (which, in fact, I had until recently). But I let the sun do its thing and continued to let it grow.

Finally, the summer before 11th grade I had let it grow so much it was almost at my hips and I actually put bright blond highlights in. That year I kept it long, but it got so tiring to keep up with that I cut it back to my shoulder length hair and a few months later I died it black with a little red. That was my favorite thing. My senior year I was feeling more like myself because of my hair. I just let the black fade and continued putting red in.

When I started college, I had reddish black hair as the dye wasn't fading. It had been a year at that point so I kept it. I never did anything to my hair until my second year. I had trimmed it like normal and then right before Christmas of 2015 I chopped 10 inches off to get a really sassy pixie cut with red highlights and ever since been keeping that and the red highlights. Now, I am in the process of growing out the pixie cut to get shoulder length hair again.

What I've learned from changing my hair is that my shoulder length hair was always my favorite length. I also liked my blackish red hair the most. So, my first goal is to grow my hair out and then figure out what I'm going to do with my highlights because hair is the biggest expression you can make as it is a more permanent part of your style. Hair has and will always be in my heart.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
