Your Love Hurts - Sonnet

You see me with tears streaming down my face,

My heart is throbbing with the words you said,

I now feel so out of place, so alone,

The things you say often make me wish I was dead,

My heart is filled with so much love for you,

Yet you remind me of things I have done wrong,

My good is never good enough for you,

And still, you are my favorite love song,

You are the person I want to wake up to,

Because with you I am so protected,

To hear the good things, ‘I am proud of you’,

Because no matter what we do, we will always be one,

My heart belongs to you, my dear husband,

I know that you love me in your own way,

A lot of what you do takes away my fear,

Amid all the stress, we never forget how to play,

Because at the end of the day, my love,

I will love you more than they can understand.

Immortal Love – Short Lines

His fangs sharpen,

The hunger grows,

As she screams,

He begins to feed,

While she cries,

He erases,

As she forgets,

He freezes,

When she smiles,

He regrets,

As they hug,

He tenses,

He notices he loves her,

Sadly, she’s clueless,

Sadly, she loves him,

Yet, he’s hopeless.

Bloodlust - Long Lines

His gums are throbbing, aching,

her gut is wrenching, turning,

their blood is pooling, escaping,

the scent is growing,

He loses all his control,

His ravenous hunger completely takes over,

her alligator tears are streaming,

A crowd, the town, is left screaming, frantic,

He falls to his knees pleading,

she takes two steps back quickly breathing,

The town turns around running, escaping,

He is there to save them, erase them,

She realizes that she loves him,

He erases all their devastating memories,

they help him off the ground and back home,

All is right after that blood-curdling night.

Losing Control

Your sanity, swirling spiraling around the drain, so cold, so dark, so comforting. Blood dripping from your veins, so warm, so sticky, so alone. You go unnoticed as your life slowly leaves you. You wrack your brain, “Please help me…” it pleads. Where did you go wrong? The world, it is dark, it was dark then and it is dark now, alone, you were alone then and you are alone now. You wrap up your bloody wounds, “Suck it up!” Be tough, be cold, be mean, be you.

Going Nowhere

When you feel so lost, so alone,

You watch the world spinning around you,

Rain falling from the sky, bouncing from the flower petals at your feet,

Tears that are hidden behind the water seeping from your hair,

The pain in your heart hidden behind the smiles you force out.

Who are you? Where are you supposed to go? Who are you supposed to be?

The world is spinning all around you, stars flying by,

Leaving behind a twinkling streak of light,

Then the clouds come, reminding you just how dark the world is,

So much movement and yet you continue to stand still,

Statue-like, going nowhere.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
