Long distance relationships are something no one should have to go through, but sometimes it is inevitable. Life just gets in the way and there is nothing you can do about it. It's hard not seeing them everyday, not being able to go to them when you have a bad day, and let's face it now you're fending for yourself for dinner every single night which isn't always easy. There are so many ways you can show them just how much you care: whether its calling before bed, sending a letter in the mail, or surprising them with a care package. Here are a few fun things that may bring you emotionally closer when your physically so far away.

1. Get yourself some matching undies.

You can even coordinate to wear them the same day. Even though you won't see your significant other, you will think of them every time you put them on, wash them, or even see them in your drawer. Plus one site that does this, MeUndies, even has super fun patterns!

2. Send them a love letter.

Snail mail is dying and that's just not okay. Getting letters and packages in the mail is the best surprise. It only costs around 50 cents for a stamp, making it the cheapest but most meaningful just because gift. You can pour your heart and soul into that letter making you feel even more in love. It means more than a text.

3. Send them a potato.

This sounds incredibly strange but probably the funniest present that can ever be send my mail. Potato Parcel lets you send a potato with messages or even images. Can you imagine your significant other opening the mailbox to find a potato with your face on it? It's hysterical and incredibly sweet.

4. Get a two piece present.

There are tons of these out there. There are pillowcases, keychains, necklaces, bracelets, and t-shirts, which all come in pairs - one for you and one for them. They tend to coincide with the cheesy but cute messages on them, which will again make you think of them all the time.

5. Get them a snuggly.

A stuffed animal sounds super corny but it's probably one of the best gifts. They are able to sleep with it every night and cuddle it when they can't cuddle you. Trust me you're not too old for a teddy bear.

6. Send them something sentimental.

No one knows your relationship better than the two of you do. Send them something that reminds you of a special time together. If your first date was to go play put-put golf, send them the scorecard because let's be real we all know you still have it. Little gifts like this show how much you cherish your time together.

7. Send them tickets to come see you.

This one may be pricey but if you're in love it's probably worth it. Whether you're cities, states, countries away there is always a way to make the trek. Send them plane, train, bus tickets! If there's a will there's a way.

8. Make a countdown.

Get crafty and make some form of countdown to the next time you see each other. You could get a jar and fill it with Hershey's kisses as a "kiss for each day until I can kiss you" type of present. There are so many ways to do this, be creative!

9. Look on Groupon.

Just because you aren't together doesn't mean you both can't have fun. Find an activity on Groupon where they are and let them enjoy themselves for a day. Chances are they're missing you too and are probably stressed out about it. This shows them that you care and don't want them to be miserable just because you aren't with them.

10. Send yourself.

You are the best present you can ever give anyone. Surprise them! Travel to wherever they are, even if it is only for the weekend. That weekend will seem much more special than the time you took for granted when you were together everyday. Make sure you coordinate with their family or roommates though so you are not intruding.
