To my long distance best friend:
I simply cannot believe we have managed to go almost four months without seeing each other. To some, this may seem like nothing, but to us, it's the longest we've ever been apart. In high school, we spent so much time doing nearly everything together, so the last couple years have been quite the change for the both of us. Going off to college has obviously created a barrier between us, but our friendship has withstood the everlasting test of any relationship- distance.
While so much has changed in our lives, we make each other a priority. When texting becomes your main form of communication, it's easy to put each other to the side, yet we never did (except for when you accidentally read my text and forget to respond, which happens all too much). We make time to talk about what's going on in our lives and keep each other up to date.
Our ability to reminisce about our best memories is like no other. We have way too many shared laughs and memories of things no one else would understand. When we talk about old times or I see old pictures of us, I can't help but tear up (I'm weak, I know!) because they were some of the best memories of my life.
Though distance separates us, we still have so much in common. We are both at similar points in our lives and I appreciate that more than ever. We have watched each other mature into intelligent young women, yet can still laugh like middle school girls when we're together.
Your passion for your career, your faith, and your family and friends is both inspiring and motivational. Sometimes I don't know how you do it all, but you manage to try your best in everything you do.
You're the friend I can see standing beside me on my wedding day, the one I'll be watching my kid's soccer games with, and the one I want laughing with me in the nursing home when we're old and grey.
I know the moment we are finally reunited will be so exciting for both of us. We can both agree it has been too long, although we will act as though no time has passed us by and get back to our old selves. Can't wait to see you soon!
With love,
Your Long Distance Best Friend
