Long distance relationships are never something you want. When you find out you are going to be put in that situation you start to wonder if it is going to work and if you will be able to keep in touch. Well try having your best friend move in your sophomore year of high school. When you are in high school it is a battle to find people that you genuinely enjoy and people that are not going to bring drama into your life. Having your very best friend up and leave in the middle of some tough years really sucks.

When I first got the news that my best friend was moving away I was so scared that we were going to lose touch with each other. I thought there was no way that we could be 8 hours away and still be best friends; well boy was I wrong. Not seeing her every day does suck. I miss having her only living 15 min away and I miss her spending every weekend at my house.

Luckily for me my parents have decided that she is their favorite daughter and she is always on every vacation we go on. We do not go without her. That makes the summers so great because I get to see her for so long. We get to spend weeks at the beach free of stress just hanging out. The fact that we are always apart makes us treasure the time that we do get to spend together since it is few and far between.

Just because she lives far away doesn’t mean that we are growing apart. We still talk all the time. Growing up in this century we have a lot more ways of keeping in touch which makes it a lot easier to stay close. She is in Italy right now and even with the time change we are as close as ever. I was afraid at the beginning that we were going to grow apart. There is no way that is ever going to happen. We are as close as ever and I think we finally have this long distance thing down.

We have been long distance best friends for about six years and she is still my best friend. I still tell her everything and know that she will always be there for me. I know I can always turn to her no matter what. We have a whole lifetime ahead of us and if we end up being stuck in different cities for our whole lives that will change nothing. She will always be my very best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
