Summer is supposed to be a relaxed time to rest and recover from a busy school year. At least, that's what I was hoping for when I got home for the summer. I could not have been more wrong.
As I was one of the unlucky ones who did not secure a summer internship or real job, I spent my last few weeks of time at school frantically searching for a nannying/housesitting/retail/skywriting job that would occupy my time and make me some money this summer. I cobbled together a smorgasbord of varying jobs that added up to roughly 30 hours a week, and off I went.
I started my first nanny job the day I got home from school, so I didn't get any downtime until the end of May when that job ended. I suddenly found myself with a lot of hours on my hands and very little to fill them with. I watched all of The Office in a month, with the highlight being completing an entire season in two days while I was housesitting.
While I was sitting idle, I had a lot of time to miss my friends from college. It's weird how you can become best friends with people so quickly, and for the entirety of our freshman year we were never apart for more than three weeks. It's now been almost two months, and I miss them like crazy!
Now that I'm busier again I don't miss them quite as much, but that's okay. We text almost every day and I can't wait to see them again at the end of August to take on sophomore year.
