We all live with our families for our entire childhood, then we eventually go off to college and live in dorm rooms with new roommates, people we have never lived with before. Then comes apartment life for the first time, which to say the least, is very exciting. I would never be able to go back to dorm life. My lovely apartment definitely exceeded all of my expectations.

First, my roommates and I have an amazing location. Since we live on Main Street, we are near all of our favorite restaurants and stores, and also not too far from classes. Everything about this location is a perfect living environment for us. Besides Morris Library, we have many coffee shops to sit in such as Brew Ha Ha, Starbucks, and Central Perk.

These are a few of my favorite destinations to study and get work done. Additionally, all of these places are in a five-minute walk from my apartment. It's honestly incredible to have my own real place.

Since this is my first apartment, this means I also have learned a lot of responsibility. Living on my own, especially in an apartment, requires a lot of maturity and cooperation. I've learned things for the future, which is sometimes scary and hard knowing I am now responsible for cleaning, buying food, taking out the garbage, and most importantly paying the rent and utilities.

I don't have my parents here to remind me to do these things, so I have gained a myriad of knowledge when obtaining my very own apartment for the first time. Also, since I live with three other roommates, we make a list of certain things such as garbage disposal, doing the dishes, buying the eggs or milk, and much more. There is obviously much responsibility in the apartment, but I got used to it after a few weeks. It's not as bad as it sounds.

It's a privilege to have a huge room, a nice kitchen, and multiple bathrooms. My apartment was not furnished, therefore I had to get all my own furniture which honestly wasn't very expensive.

Everything is from Bob's Discount Furniture and fits my style perfectly. My room is beach themed with a tapestry of the ocean. It makes the room feel very cozy and comfortable. All I want to do is sit in my bed during every part of the day. This is why it's so convenient to walk to the small coffee shops because of course, it's too nice to focus on work in my apartment.

My first apartment is simply amazing and perfect for my taste. I honestly cannot complain about anything in regard to my apartment. I'm extremely fortunate to live on Main Street and even more fortunate to have my parents respectfully pay for this. They know I am learning and growing into the mature, responsible, and young woman I am. This first apartment is perfect practice for the house I hopefully live in one day. It's almost a dream come true, and a huge step up from dorm life!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
