5 Lessons I've Learned Living With 7 Girls
Sarah Thompson

Living in a house with other girls can be tricky. Sharing one house with seven is a whole different ball game. And let me tell you, this is a ball game where the rules were probably explained a few times, but no one really paid attention to the rules away.

1. You will never be lonely... like.. ever

Yes, this has its pros and cons.

Trying to find alone time when you live with a thousand roommates can be extremely difficult. Alone time is essential if you enjoy living a sane life. But, constantly having a friend right down the hall or even in your same room is truly something else. You basically have a free therapist 24/7. And we all know we could use one of those.

2. What's mine is yours, and vise versa

Yes, sharing is taught at a young age when your mother yells at you to share your toys with the little kid next to you. But realistically, no one enjoys sharing. We buy certain clothes we like and sometimes letting a friend borrow your favorite jeans can be like pulling teeth, but you do it anyways. Same goes for food. Dude, who ate my f*cking cheese again?! Seriously though, let it go. It's really going to be okay.

3. Personality clashing.

Everyone is different in their own ways. This we know. So with that being said, you can assume that living with many girls in one house can sometimes go south and that assumption is not wrong.

You will definitely have your fair share of being pissed off at one of your roommates here and there. And that is totally normal. We're college students aka no one has any idea what they're doing. But that's also the beauty of it. We're all figuring this life sh*t out with one another, even if that entails stepping one each other's toes every once in a while. (or maybe more than every once in a while, oops)

4. A hot mess

Living on your own means not being told to clean up after yourself and we all know if you don't have to, why would you? (Or maybe that's just me? Idk.) Likewise, the house can become dirty real quick. Dishes are racking up in the sink, you haven't done laundry in two weeks, and there's most likely makeup left out all over your bathroom counter.

I mean hey, this is the only time you can live in filth and somehow get away with it so why not? You're also probably out of toilet paper because who's turn is it to buy some anyways?

But, after a few aggressive texts sent in the group chat, the job gets done! You're doing great sweetie.

5. It's actually the best thing ever

Yes, living with more roommates than even allowed on the lease has it's downside (besides being illegal) but, the positive aspects outweigh them all. You have all your best friends in one spot and honestly, that's more than enough.

Constant laughter, more than one shoulder to cry on (and let's be honest you need more than one because your one friend is already annoyed that your crying again), and several girls to balance out and speak life into you when you need it the most. If living with my best friends for the rest of my life is an option, please sign me up.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
