How lucky are we to have both?

It's the question college students struggle with all year: which is better, being at school or at home?

When you decided what school to go to it was your choice. There's a special attachment with the campus that you yourself wanted to go to. It's where your friends are and where you spend most of the year. Plus there's so much to do. From academics to jobs to student organizations you have so much to do to occupy your free time. Like your school choice, you chose to be a part of everything you're involved in. School is where you get to independently create your own life and surround yourself with what you love.

But school is also where you go through the struggles of class and trying to live a balanced life. You start to miss home cooked meals, especially when you move off-campus and have to find the energy to cook for yourself.

There's also the car issue. Not everyone on a college campus has a car, so for some people it's hard to escape campus and actually get a break when you need one. It's fun to be around your friends but you also get the feeling that you want to just go home and do absolutely nothing. There's also the issue if your friends go to other schools. Me and two of my best friends are at three different schools in Ohio. Breaks are the only times we actually get to see each other.

In some cases home can be worse. Sometimes there's nothing to do (other than having to pick up your siblings from sports). Some of the long breaks get old after two weeks. Again there's the friend issue, but this time you're missing all your friends from school, some of which may be out of state.

But home is home. As someone who's lived in a couple different places I grew up hearing that home is not where your house is, it's where your family is. I love being at school, but I also love being home. There's my mom's cooking, my dad's weird iPad obsession, and my brothers' being the goofballs they are. I'm also very biased towards my house because that's where my three dogs are. It's just a great environment to go back to.

Being a college student can give you the best of both worlds. You get to live between the life you've made for yourself at school and your familiar home life. Either way you look at it, both make up part of who you are.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
