The world communicates worthlessness, but God says you are worthy. In a daily college routine, I see girls trying to get guys' attention, seeking someone to pursue them in one way or another. But God pursues us. The perfect gentleman, who will teach you of your worth (priceless), is the one and only Jesus. Our father, our friend, our savior, our counselor!
Here's what He says about us (to us):
You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. (Song of Solomon 4:9)
And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord. (Hosea 2:19-20)
How beautiful and pleasant you are, O loved one, with all your delights! (Song of Solomon 7:6)
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel; "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine." (Isaiah 43:1)
And you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. (Colossians 2:10)
As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem. (Isaiah 66:13)
He watches over us. He is our protector. He leads us in righteousness. He teaches us truth.
He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber (Psalm 121:3)
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. (Psalm 139:5)
Isn't God so cool? He knows our every move and knew our "before time" moments. Wow! Even more, He laid his hand upon us, wove our being, calms us, walks with us, breathes within us and in every moment of our lives. Not only do we lean on his shoulder for rest, but His hand and presence are endless – how amazing!
It amazes me to know how He loves! The "love language test" gives 5 ways of showing love: physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, and receiving gifts. Though presently he may not have a physical body on earth, He still touches our heart. He seeks quality time with us, showers us with thoughtful gifts (watching the sunrise – leaves me in complete awe) and tells us our worth.
In light of His great love and devotion for me, my heart should posture an overwhelming thankfulness. My foot stands on level ground; in the great assembly I will bless the Lord." (Psalm 26:12)
Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7)
Life isn't easy. Since God pursued after me, I should devote myself to Him, just as He was an example for me. "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you." (John 13:14-15)
Scrolling through my Instagram stories a while ago, someone I follow said, "Don't forget to spend time in the Bible before bed! Stay consistent just how you stay consistent with eating! Spiritual food is important!" This has stayed with me. It has changed my thinking of really taking my relationship with God more seriously. He deserves all my time! Why wouldn't I give up (at least) 30 minutes daily to let Him feed me spiritually? Soon my lifestyle changed. Even when it's 12 AM and I'm falling asleep while reading, I still make sure I spend time with Him.
Even more, I HAVE to get into His word each morning - "Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul" (Psalm 143:8) - or I turn into the "woman who hasn't had her coffee yet". I share my time with Him, and all my days have changed!
When you pursue Him with all your heart as He did toward you, your whole life changes! You're in a relationship with Him. I find a treat like coffee or sweets, a place I enjoy being, and just spend time in His word, letting Him teach and guide me. And when I give my time to Him, he absolutely BLOWS me away! I can't quite explain everything, because you have your own walk, but hopefully, some of my walk has been encouraging.
