It's Monday, and all you can think about is Friday. Friday is inching up slowly, day by day, where you can almost taste the freedom, feel the excitement, and anticipate each day as it comes just knowing you are getting closer to that two-day weekend of yours. Sometimes, you forget that you are going through the motions, flying through the week like you're on some kind of drug. A drug that just numbs you, takes away the pain, and all the feelings you are supposed to be feeling throughout the week. You think to yourself that you don't want to live like this. You don't want to live your life as a complete robot, a robot that is wasting five whole and precious days so you can have two days of freedom. You are pushing through the week believing a lie that the weekend is actually better and that you will be happier.
They say the grass is always greener on the other side, and we always want what we can't have. But do you really want to waste your entire week for a possibly okay weekend? What if it turns out in a totally different way from what you were expecting? You will have to wait another whole week, and it may turn out the exact same way. If you calculate the numbers, that means you are wasting approximately 22 to 23 days a month, and in reality, only getting eight days of your so-called "weekend" in just one ENTIRE month. Do the math, and you are living your life to the fullest 96 out of 365 days in the entire year. If what I am writing relates and or describes you, give yourself a round of applause. Congratulations.
What would it look like if we worried less about the weekend and more about the present moment? Letting ourselves enjoy each day as it is handed to us, and soaking in the mystery that it brings. We are not guaranteed each day as it is—life is a gift. What if we find the exciting things about each and every day and don't take it for granted? What if we live in the present moment, and learn to appreciate the adventures that are before us? I think it's time to start living a life of adventure, breaking out of the mundane and ordinary routine of life, and time to start putting ourselves out there with our best foot forward. Let's focus our mind on the positive, give every day our all, and live each day like it's the last.
Before we know it, as sad as this sounds, life will be over. We are supposed to look back on our journey one day, remembering all the good and bad times we've had, laugh about it, maybe make some jokes, and cry a little. How are we supposed to do that if we have barely lived over half of our life to its absolute fullest? We have been given one life, and ultimately, we get to decide what we want to do with it. Personally, for me, I want to live a life with no regrets. Life is really short as it is; there is no time for a single day to be wasted and or taken for granted. I want to live life looking forward to the adventure that each day holds. It is time to start making the other 200+ days worth it.
