When you believe something, it can be easy to let that hover around your thoughts and never let it leave your noodle. Keeping it surface level is such an effortless task and it doesn’t require very much action. It’s basically like making an in-depth workout plan for every day of the week and then staying in bed until Sunday morning.
Why waste such a well-thought out system?
Now, I’m not hating on all the sleep lovers out there because I’m definitely part of that community. I’ve skipped gym day too many times myself, and my thighs aren't thanking me.
It’s tough to put thoughts into motion.
I’m not just talking about a sweat session here. If you believe in something, work for it and pursue it at all costs. Poverty? Donate money to orphanages in Guatemala. Human trafficking? Find a way to put an end to it. Small businesses? Establish your own or support the little market down the street.
Put into action the beliefs you carry in your mind. Get up in the morning and get involved. Show up to the meetings and volunteer for a job. Pull on your work boots and go out to the field.
Change doesn’t happen in a day. It takes weeks of reminding yourself what you know, and putting one foot in front of the other.
Find out where your products are coming from and who makes them. Discover the truth behind how you're living your life. Let the things you buy and the organizations you support align with your fundamental beliefs.
Personally, I haven’t always solidified what I believe with the things I do and the brands I support. As a Christian, I forget to blend what I believe and what I do. Sometimes I get lazy, and instead of doing research, I just go for it.
In the end, I know that it is better to truly understand what I am contributing to and why. It helps me back up my Biblical beliefs and fight for the love of Jesus in everything I do. It can be time-consuming, but overall it is completely worth it.
Give your time and funds to the places that will ultimately pour into your personal beliefs.
Step out of your comfort zone and uphold the things weighing on your heart. Let your clothes, your food and anything you own reflect what you’ve learned.
Buy bracelets and give money to organizations that will free temple prostitutes in India. Offer your evenings to the local food drive. Sell the clothes you don’t wear, and give the extra cash to missionaries in Africa. Buy coffee grounds from Central America that will help support struggling families. The principles you believe should seep into all areas of life, and therefore shape the soul.
While you’re at it, you’ll be shaping the world.
