As Many Did Not Have The Same Opportunity

As a college student, it becomes rather difficult to forget that after graduation, we will be pushed into society and find a place we belong in. Personally, that concept is constantly being pushed to the back of my mind by staying busy with clubs and other enjoyable things (reading a book or hanging out with friends). Though, the only thing that I can never stop pondering on is whether what I'm doing is worth it or not. I've had friends come up to me and explain their situation on how they decided their major. "Family expectations led me to choose this field, though I have no real connection to it in the first place", my friend said as she wanted to be a veterinarian, but for her family chose to study international affairs. She graduated with that major and I wish her the best, but something unsettling stayed with me hearing her story. As a daughter of immigrants, there is an underlying standard that we have to try even harder in this society to give back what they sacrificed. My parents were not allowed to go back to their home for more than 25 years, worked long hours to provide a roof over my head and be limited to a system that only wished to exploit and remove them. I will only say this one, their decision and hardships led to the possibility of me getting a better life. Every situation is different and not each of us were dealt with a just hand, but life is the gift where you can always rise up and make it your own. If you are acting by the expectation of others who don't matter to you, then I suggest cutting those ties as they only limit from your true potential. People who truly care for you, whether it be family or friends, will listen to your input as those that truly matter to your future. The only inputs that matter on your future are your own. Life is made of many moments that everyone decides on what they plan to do, whether it be what to eat or how to outline their lives (if you need one for organization). As much as decisions are made through pressure, responsibility, or even spur of the moment, the goal in life should be to live every moment with the least amount of regrets. At the end of the day, if what you are doing makes you happy and satisfied, then I believe you had a day of fulfillment. Whether it be procrastinated on your assignment to read a book or spent the last couple of dollars on a meal with friends, as long as your happy then its a well spent day. Remember, time does not slow for no one, so living a life that you are not satisfied with will leave you with only regrets in the future. Thus, evaluate your decisions and listen your "soul" and decide what you want to do, and not limit yourself on the whims of others. Others did not have the opportunity to choose, so don't waste your chance with regrets.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
