Have you ever had a loved one become severely ill, get in an accident, or even worse, have death occur in your family? Well, we all have at some point. There is no feeling that is worse than finding out the devastating news of a loved one in a very bad situation. Recently, I have been going through a lot of these scenarios. When life decides to take a turn, it never talks a small one. Whether good or bad, life always seems to turn harshly. My harsh turning point was about a year ago. I first had to adapt to college, find out my grandfather has passed, and deal with a lot of other stressors in my life. However, recently it seems as though these tragedies come in patterns. About a week ago, my one friend had gotten news of their friend passing away in an accident. A day after I had gotten news of my best friend being in a fatal car accident. Normally I would be able to take a minute and collect myself. This time was different. A week before I had gotten news that my cousin was in a really bad accident and was on life support. So adding everything all in was very difficult for me. Both are doing slightly better now but it got me thinking. These terrible life threatening things seem to come in patterns. I do not know why, nor how this all seems too combined into one major pattern. I think that it is something that is unfortunately out of our hands. From now on I am going to choose to live every moment like it’s my last, and to make sure I tell everyone how much I admire them. Because in the end, you never know when your last breath will be taken. So to my best friend, my cousin, my partner in crime, the only person who understands me, the person who I adore, and more importantly my loved one. I will say this now while I can. Hold on my dear as death tries to overcome you. You are way stronger than you even know. You have been through so much and death will not have this victory. Keep fighting and getting better and before you know it you’ll be back to normal. You got this, so let’s see you win this thing!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
