A Follow Up With Eagle Dining

Last week, I wrote an exposé on Eagle Dining, and the response I received from it was more than I could have ever anticipated. I received so much feedback from students, alumni, faculty, parents, students from other Universities, Aramark, even newscasters, and I am here to tell you that we got what we wanted.

We got Eagle Dining's attention.

After the article was released, it instantly took off! Students and parents alike were just sharing it left and right. Within in the first few hours of being live the article's view count was in the hundreds, and it was trending. It was overwhelming, and then, by the end of the day, it was in the thousands. It was insane!

Soon enough, I saw that my article sparked the creation of a petition by a fellow student, and much like the article, the petition took off, gaining hundreds of signatures within the first few hours. People wanted answers and the students of Southern Miss wanted something to be done. Parents shared the petition, alumni shared the petition, and, to my disbelief, even faculty members shared the petition.

Well, I have good news for all of you.

Eagle Dining has agreed to work with the students toward a solution.

After actually getting the chance to sit down and speak with the head of Eagle Dining, I am more than glad to inform you that our voices have been heard. We've opened their ears of Eagle Dining, and now they're listening. They have assured me that good things will come from this and that they are ready and willing to work with us to find a solution.

This coming Wednesday, there will be a "Lunch with the Director" meeting, where various student leaders, faculty members, and myself will sit down, and discuss our concerns with Eagle Dining, and they will listen. We will finally have an open forum with them, and they will have to respond.

We came together, and raised our voices, and now we are making things happen.

I am glad to have had all of the support that I did, and that I could be the voice that sparked this change for the students. But, without all of you rallying behind me, without all of your feedback, the positive and the negative, I could not have made any of this possible.

I hope you all are as proud as I am to usher in this era of change for our student body, and its future. I look forward to what is to come from this, and will do my best to keep everyone well-informed.

I am proud to say that I will be leaving Southern Miss better than I found it.

That we will be leaving Southern Miss better than we found it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
