Recently, I noticed that my workouts at the gym were becoming slightly boring and that I wanted to switch it up a bit. I researched for a while and looked through different programs, but I ended up being very intrigued when I saw Pure Barre come up on my screen.
I never know how to explain Pure Barre when people ask. The only way I know how to explain it is to say that it is like a mixture of yoga, ballet, and strengthening exercises all at once. You use small movements and squeezes to work muscles that are not usually focused on. In the classes I have taken, I can honestly say that I've worked out every part of my body that I've wanted to see changes in.
At the beginning of class, you pick up a set of weights (one lighter and one heavier), a small ball, and a set of tubing that is used for stretching and resistance workouts. As you go throughout the class, you do some very intense strengthening workouts with stretching in between to give you a chance to catch your breath.
Pure Barre is very different from anything I've tried. I've always been more into workouts like kickboxing and Crossfit because I see changes in my body quickly, so I was super skeptical when beginning Pure Barre. I did not really know what to expect and I was actually kind of anxious since it is so different from everything I've done.
However, I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised by how much I absolutely love it. I've only taken 4 classes and I have seen major changes in my abs. I think I see faster changes with this than I did when I started Crossfit for the first time.
The downside to Pure Barre is that it can be tricky when you first start. A lot of people walk away from class feeling a little discouraged (as I did) because they do not get the movements instantly. I promise you though, around your third class you'll begin to stop watching everyone else and completely focus on your own movements, and then it'll click for you. That's what it did for me, at least.
If you're interested in trying Pure Barre, they offer a week free of charge! I just finished up my free week and I have purchased an additional month of unlimited classes because I love it that much! Anyone who knows me knows that I do not like spending lots of money, so if I'm willing to spend more than $5 on something then it is worth it.
