Life's a Journey

A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions. - Oliver Wendell Holmes

Have you every stopped to think just how much you have accomplished, have gone through, or have done in your life? I know I have and its been a whirlwind to say the least, but then again that's life right? Things may happen in life whether you want them to or not, but life keeps on going. All these experiences in life are a journey and helps us to shape into who we are as a person. If we knew everything that was going to happen in our life then it would be straight up boring and not as exciting. Not knowing the unknown is thrilling, yet scary at the same time and an adventure.

Remember when we were younger we would talk about all the things we wanted to be or do when we got older? Well we're all adults now and some of those things have changed or haven't and have been accomplished. I know when I was younger I wanted to be a teacher like my mom, I wanted to own a really nice car and have a big house. Oh, the things we thought about when we were younger when life was care free and we had no major responsibilities! Now we're adults and we have to take on this journey and deal with all kinds of situations, but the main thing is how you handle them. We get thrown so many things at us on this journey in life. Sometimes we're completely thrown off guard and don't know what to do, while others can just nail it on the spot. When we experience things whether they are positive or negative, we can never go back to what was comfortable to us because we get that excitement and pursue more opportunities similar to them.

Yet, this is life and its one big adventure full of opportunities and all we can do is excel at them and live in the moment instead of trying to force things to happen.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
