This past weekend my college group was talking about our vocations. If you don't know, a vocation is basically your life's calling. Now this is something that can be super daunting, especially during college, because it becomes something that we're "supposed" to have figured out in four years. That is not the case. Plus, let's be real, we struggle with going to class sometimes, let alone knowing everything we are supposed to do for the rest of our lives.
It is completely okay to not know what your calling is even once you are done with college. There are so many things you can do and your calling and your job might be to completely different things. Just because you may be at a job that is okay, you might have a passion for something else. It does not mean that your "okay" job is your calling. You can easily have a job because you need a job, but your calling could be for your passion or something else entirely.
Also, you do not have to know exactly what your calling is straight out of high school or college. It may take you some time to discover what your actual calling is and what it is that you are really supposed to do. Contrary to what most people will say, if you don't know your calling, it is okay.
Being able to know what your calling is, is a big thing because it is not always an easy thing to discern. When it comes to this though and truly finding your calling, it doesn't have to just be one thing. Your calling could easily relate to one thing, but the way it is used could change over time. There are so many things over time that can change and your calling is one of these things. As you get older and go through life, your calling can change based on what you are doing or where you are at in life.
Figuring out what you want to do with your life can be such a daunting thing to deal with, but don't let that discourage you. There are so many things that you can do in life or one thing that can take you down many paths. Especially when it comes to your calling it is okay to take time and figure out what it is because it is something that is so important.
We as humans are not perfect people, so why do we make our calling something that has to go perfectly. It is okay to not know what to do and it is okay to mess up along the way. Sometimes the best lessons that we can learn can be from a failure. Also, being able to go and ask someone for help when trying to figure out your calling is not a bad thing. Those above us do know a thing or two about this kinda thing. Don't be afraid to take some time to figure out your calling.
