Life As A 21-Year-Old, As Told By Rachel Greene

Age 21 is typically one of the best times in a young woman's life. It can be filled with new experiences, challenges, laughs, and unforgettable memories. As a 21-year-old myself (and an extreme "Friends" fan), I find that I constantly relate to the very sweet and charming Rachel Greene.

1. The one where you finally get your 21-year-old ID

Nothing can compare to the feeling you get when you trade in that vertical license for your brand new horizontal one! Take that thing and voluntarily show it off in any and every situation possible.

2. The one where you try to convince your parents you're completely independent

The moment when you try to tell your parents that you should be able to do/have ______ because you are "own your own" and they have to remind you that they still pay for your car, phone bill, schooling, etc. Oops, guess we aren't as independent as we really think!

3. And when you actually try to do something independent...

I don't think moms can help but giggle when we call them with our very silly, yet very serious, life questions. Once you are on your own, there are so many aspects of life that you realize you don't know too much about.

4. The one where you finally decide to go through your text messages after a night out

Nothing is better than waking up after a long night out and finding a whole bunch of embarrassing text messages. I'm not sure which is more brutal — sending the messages in the first place or having to apologize for them the next day.

5. The one where you keep getting those constant texts to "bring your friends out with you"

I really don't understand why boys do this. Did you think I was coming alone?

6. The one where your friends beg you not to call him while you're out

"Order two drinks to keep your hands full. Then you can't call boys that you shouldn't" hasn't worked out so well for us girls. It seems to describe how most of us spend the very end of our night out.

7. The one where you're sick and your mom isn't there to take care of you

It is the ultimate struggle — having to get out of bed when you're sick to make yourself food or run to the store for some more medication. Being sick and hundreds of miles away from home is one the absolute worst parts of being on your own. It's at this point that we wish Mom was still around to make everything better.

8. The one where your boyfriend asks you for the millionth time what you want for dinner

Do they not understand that if we wanted to pick, we would?

9. The one where you check your bank account after a long weekend

We all know this feeling way too well. Your heart drops the second you open your banking app and you're left guessing what could have possibly happened the night before.

10. The one where your friend asks what professor you have and you try to explain what he looks like

We have all had those moments when you realize that a friend could possibly be taking the same class as you and you didn't even realize it. Of course, you never seem to remember your professor's name, so you are left describing any possible qualities that you can remember.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
