"Parks and Recreation" is arguably one of the funniest and most wonderful shows that has ever blessed the world with its existence. It could just be seen as a typical comedy only created to make you laugh when you are feeling down (which it does), but it is so much more than that. It taught us a lot and each character gives us different insight in how to approach life. They taught us about love, friendship, and so much more. Here are some of the best lessons that "Parks and Rec" has taught us.

1. Be confident!

Tom Haverford had confidence radiating off him like the sun. He taught us to have confidence in what we do.

2. Set goals.

Whether it is short term or long term goals are important. Not only that, Parks and Rec has taught us to be realistic about our goals as well.

3. Don’t over think things.

Andy and April taught us this extremely well when they had an impromptu wedding ceremony and “seriously cannot emphasize enough how little [they] thought about this.”

4. Be proud of where you are from.

Leslie Knope is the epitome of town pride. As crazy as she is sometimes, it’s important to take pride in your hometown or even if it’s not the town itself, maybe the one thing you absolutely love about your home.

5. Be positive!

No one taught us the power of positivity and happiness like Chris Traeger. Live each and every day to your possible fullest.

6. Never give up!

It may have taken Leslie Knope six seasons to get her park built, but she still did it. And in the process she also helped her friends, became City Councilwoman of Pawnee, and more!

7. The importance of pizza.

“Time is money, money is power, power is pizza, and pizza is knowledge.”

8. Be passionate!

All the characters, no matter what, were passionate about what they cared about. They put everything they had into the things they love.

9. Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.

This is probably one of the most important lessons we could ever learn from the show. We learn to prioritize and focus on one thing at a time. It’ll make our lives a lot easier, and all that we put into our work will come out better than if we “half-ass” everything.

10. The most important things in life are…

“…friends, waffles, and work or waffles, friends, and work. It doesn’t matter. But work is third.”

11. Treat Yo Self!

Last, but certainly not least, and possibly even the most important lesson of all that we can learn from the show is that we all got to learn that is okay to treat ourselves every once in a while—especially when we deserve it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
