The holiday season is a perfect time to make lists of gifts we want, spend money, and think greedily. Living in the 21st century, sometimes we forget what the true meaning of the holiday season is. With the help of a few Christmas movie quotes, we are able to remember why the holidays are such an important time of year.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
This holiday classic reminds us that we make important imprints on everyone we meet. This world would not be the same without each and every one of us in it.
"Strange isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"
The Polar Express (2004)
The sense of adventure and imagination in the midst of the holidays appeared in The Polar Express. The conductor challenges us all to take a chance and live for adventure.
"The thing about trains... it doesn't matter where they're going. What matters is deciding to get on.."
Love Actually (2003)
The holiday spirit inspires us all to feel and provides love for those around us. Sometimes it's a dollar in the Red Cross bucket, other times its baking cookies for your mom. Love Actually provides a perfect example of finding love everywhere you turn-- even if it's not where you expected.
"If you look for it I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
A Charlie Brown's Christmas (1965)
The single most important thing to appreciate during the holidays is our loved ones. We could each have a billion dollars to spend on gifts for ourselves, but never be truly satisfied opening up the presents alone. It's not what you've got, it's who you've got with you that make Christmas time so joyful.
"It's not what's under the Christmas tree that matters. It's who's around it."
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Society as a whole is so consumed with fitting in through materialistic items that we fail to understand Christmas is so much more than gifts. Whether you're not a fan of Christmas time, or absolutely adore it, it's safe to say the relationships in our lives would be better off if we took some advice from The Grinch and stopped looking for Christmas in a store.
"Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
In 1964, families fell in love with Rudolph and his reminder to always be ourselves, even if we shine a little brighter than others.
"He always knew he was a little different, but he let his light shine regardless of what others said."
The Holiday (2006)
The Holiday is a perfect example of finding love in the places we least expect it. That being said, this movie is also a perfect example of being your own "leading lady" when the love you find is not what you need anymore.
"In the movies we have leading ladies and we have best friends. You, I can tell, are a leading lady, but for some reason you're behaving like the best friend."
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Sometimes having faith is like following our hearts. Miracle on 34th Street encourages us to follow our hearts when our brain tells us differently.
"Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to."
Elf (2003)
The world was in shock at the hilarious entertainment of the hit movie, Elf. Buddy the Elf inspires us to be extra jolly in the way he shares his Christmas spirit with everyone he meets-- strangers in NYC, family and even Santa himself!
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
Frosty the Snowman (1969)
Frosty the Snowman teaches children the importance of friendships. Without friends, how else are we suppose to get through the holiday season?
"One friend is a lot different than no friends. One friend is plenty."
