It is a commonly accepted fact that we don't know how much time we have on this earth. It's the reason why some people are constantly living life to its fullest and are doing adventurous things all of the time. They don't have to wonder what if, and they want to die happy.
Tomorrow isn't guaranteed, today is because we're living in today. We live in the moment and we should cherish the moment as much as possible. I've been open about feeling like I've wasted my high school years because all I wanted to do was graduate, and I ended up missing out on what could have been an amazing high school experience.
I didn't live life in high school. I didn't do things that made me happy. I did things that focused on getting me the most money, the best grades, and what would lead me to having a brighter future. That's not what life is about.
Life is about spending time with the people you care about and having fun. Life is about stepping out of your comfort zone and constantly trying new things, whether it'd be food or a new experience like skydiving. Life is about having fun.
I understand that college and school are stressful, and that there is always going to be a test that needs to be studied for. I understand that there is always a paper that needs to be done and worked on. I get that there's a math problem that can't be solved.
All of these things are important, but at the end of the day my well-being is more important. My happiness is more important. My sleeping schedule is more important.
You can put so much effort and all of your effort into preparing for that test, and work hard. Please do, but once it's over don't stress out about how you did on that test. Once you get that grade back, don't stress about how poorly you may have done.
There will always be another test to ace. There will always be another paper to write. There will always be another math problem to do.
There will not always be another chance at life. We only have one life, and we should be happy during it. We shouldn't be dreading every moment of it.
I have a professor that tells us every day to smile before she starts lecture. They constantly talk about how life is too short to be miserable, and how our generation is overworking ourselves to be the best due to constant pressure placed on by society. This professor is accurate and has a valid point.
We don't know how long we have on this earth, and no matter what life is so short. We should be using the time we have to be making ourselves happy, not miserable. We should be spending time with the people who make us feel good about ourselves, not the people who make us feel like trash.
To all of the students out there, go out and live your life. Don't overwork yourself because if you're not doing what makes you happy, you will burn out. We don't know how long we have on this earth, so why not enjoy as much as possible?
Go out there and live your life! Do what makes you happy, and that's all that matters. I am doing that, and I will continue to do that.
