Heartbreak—the word alone gives off a gut-wrenching feeling.
Enduring such pain leaves a mark on an individual that can change them forever, but a broken heart mends—and as people, we come back stronger than before.
Heartbreak is not a movie scene where you curl up in bed and eat chocolate while watching chick-flicks all night; although sometimes that is the case, it is so much more than that. Being heartbroken is that feeling as you lay in bed staring at your wall until 3 AM with silent tears rushing down your face trying to drain the memories and hurt away.
It's staying in the shower so long until all you feel is cold water pellets piercing your skin, but yet it doesn't hurt as bad as what inside feels like. It's a feeling you words cannot describe.
This is to the broken-hearted...
Those sleepless nights wondering what you did wrong and where things started falling apart is what kills you the most. All of the "What if's?" and "Why me?" questions have brought us upon this very moment of realization.
Trust me, I understand the feeling all too well. I've been in your position. I know how it feels to be so out of control with the inner self that you feel as though you have completely lost it. I know that you've felt your heart shatter into a million pieces and you are trying to slowly pick back up all of the fallen parts to mend them back together, but it no longer feels worth it.
I promise you it gets easier. I promise you that yes, your outlook on love, relationships, and hope will change, but through it all, your worth will shine and you will mend back together.
The thought of being hurt and betrayed again will always linger in your mind when you meet someone new. Sometimes it will kill the mood when you're vibing with someone, but you're protecting yourself. Let your guard down when you are ready.
Don't let anyone else force that upon you. You are no longer broken-hearted, but mended and willing to love again.
The long sleepless nights up in bed crying with memories flowing through your head soon will turn into mid-afternoon laughs while you enjoy life next to someone who took your hand and heart and gives you the world.
The heartbreak won't last, but the empowerment to recover will.
It's hard to realize that a broken heart doesn't last forever, but keep in mind that a happy heart does. Life will continue on, and as you grow, your heart will mend and you will become full of love and gratitude.
You are strong. You are loved. You will prosper. You will mend.
