Here Lies A Red Hot Chili Peppers Fan: R.I.P.

Here Lies A Red Hot Chili Peppers Fan: R.I.P.

Here lies Haley Kurisky, who died upon seeing her favorite band live in concert. Everyone knew she loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers more than any other artist in the world, but no one knew that their concert would rock as much as it did. Especially her.

She had finally convinced her family that the summer family vacation should take place in Canada, where the Red Hot Chili Peppers just happened to be performing at the Quebec City Music Festival. It was fate that she ended up in Quebec City just as the Chili Peppers started to play. She was remembered to have never stopped smiling the entire set.

When they played her favorite song, "Scar Tissue," she and the 96,000 people in the audience sang along. When they played her second favorite song, "Under the Bridge," the grandstands set up throughout the festival grounds reverberated with longing and heartbreak, just as the song describes. When they played her fifth favorite song, "Around the World," as the encore and sang about how "life is beautiful," the festival-goers, including Haley, went wild. Life is beautiful, and it was amazing to listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform an emotional and energetic set while also being surrounded by 95,999 of their other biggest fans.

Even though they played two songs that she didn't really know ("Nobody Weird" and "Ethiopia"), she was ecstatic about the overall set list, which included hits like "Californication," "Snow (Hey Oh)," "Can't Stop," "Otherside" and "By The Way." She jumped for joy when Anthony Kiedis took his shirt off and when Flea did a handstand across the stage towards his bass guitar. She laughed when Chad Smith mean-mugged the camera and she gazed admiringly at Josh Klinghoffer when he flipped his long hair back-and-forth as he sang the harmonies. The last time she had seen the RHCP in concert (also, the first time), they were merely a cool band she had heard about. Now they were her favorite, and she had been looking forward to this moment for years.

It was a wonderful evening, and if she were here, then she would definitely thank her mother and father for understanding and appeasing her RHCP obsession and for planning an all-around fantastic vacation. You can pay your respects by emailing the RHCP band and begging them to come to Houston on their next tour.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
