Letting Go Of Toxic People

To the people I thought would be in my life forever.

Letting Go Of Toxic People

Not everyone who enters your life is meant to stay in it. People often get wrapped up in the idea that everyone is going to treat them the same way they treat others. However, more times than not this isn't the case. Not everyone has the same heart as you do, and as heartbreaking, as this is, it's the truth, and you have to accept it as it is.

Toxic Friendships

People often use the length of time they've been friends with a person as a way to determine the "strength" of their friendship. However, it doesn't matter whether you've been friends with that person for 14 years or 14 days, if that person's friendship is poisonous to your growth you need to cut them out. Friends are meant to encourage each other to reach their full potential, and to boost each other's self-esteem. Friendship isn't supposed to be based on owing each other favors, getting jealous over each other's successes or only being around when that person needs someone to talk to. Although lending a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on is a part of being friends, that person shouldn't only reach out to you when they're having a bad day. Friends are supposed to be around throughout the good times and the bad.

There comes a time when you have to take a step back and look at the larger picture, is this friendship worth salvaging? If you have to take the time to contemplate this question, you probably already know the answer.

Toxic Relationships

Sometimes you have to just accept that it's never going to be you. You're never going to be that person's first choice or even their second. They only want you when they're lonely or sad because they know you're always going to be there. Even though you'd do anything to put a smile on their face, there comes a point where you need to look at the mark it's leaving on you. It's not healthy to allow a person to play with your mind and your emotions just because they're unsure of their own. You deserve someone who will make you a priority rather than treat you like an option.

You need to choose what's best for you. Don't be afraid to cut off the toxic people in your life, let them go. Never settle for less than your worth, because you're worth it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
