Every single one of us has fears, taking the exception for the occasional psychopath, we all have fears. It's perfectly normal, it gives us something to strive to overcome. Whether it's fearing rejection from a crush or a college, being high off of the ground, having an eight legged insect on the wall, or a slithering scaly creature in your grass, every single one of us has fears.
It's no easy obstacle to face them, but choosing not to do so won't let us grow as people. Therefore creating us to have limits. When we have limits we live inside of a space known as our comfort zone. Here's the thing, life begins outside of that zone, where all our fears are waiting for us to take them on. So, we just have to step up and face them. It's as easy and as complicated as that.
Letting fear get in my way was the worst decision I probably could've made. There's this saying that sticks with me "excuses will be around forever, opportunity won't". Everyone can find an excuse easier than facing a situation head on. Take the chance, before you settle in a nice pot of regret, because honestly facing your fears is easier to deal with then living with that constant thought of I wish I had done ____. Feeling like you want to turn back time sucks so much, don't let that feeling exist. I mean if you want something so bad, I don't think letting a feeling choose if you get it or not is a good way to live.
When we choose to let fear win because it's so much easier to say no and feel comfortable, instead of saying yes and not knowing the outcome, life is going to plateau. I mean think about it. If there is someone you just absolutely adore, and you don't take the chance to talk to them or, as crazy as it sounds in today's world, ask them on a date you're just going to end up forcing yourself to stop fancying them.
This is so you don't have to face the dreadful word 'no' or hear them say "I don't feel the same way", and that might not even be the case. You're also choosing to not hear them respond with "yes" or " I've been waiting for you to talk to me". It's as if we don't fear the scenario or the object, we fear the negative response or reaction.
Life would be pretty boring if we didn't go after anything that scared us. I mean the new job, our dream school, that audition, or the tallest roller coaster everyone is talking about. We'd miss out on the chance of everything being okay. Is it so hard to believe in ourselves to go after what we want?
When we let fear win, we answer yes to that question. Have some faith in yourself and don't give fear the satisfaction of winning that you would feel if you had just faced your fears head on. Zig Ziglar said it best, "fear has two meanings, forget everything and run or face everything and rise. The choice is yours."
