Dear 19-Year-Old Me,

If you only knew what was coming to you maybe you wouldn't be so sad. Life isn't about who you date and what you drive. It may seem like that's the only thing that matters in this time but I'm here to tell you, all this won't matter in a few years.

All of these failed attempts at dating, all these sleepless nights, and mornings trying to start your car; it doesn't last forever. The unread texts you sent him will soon be forgotten and eventually you'll have money to fix the ticking problem in your engine. Then one night you'll be laying in bed and laugh because of how obsessed you were trying to fix the issue. Like I said, it doesn't really matter.

In the most uncliche way, the only true constant is change. And it probably seems to be true. 19-years old, a Sophomore in college, comparing yourself to the peers around you; it probably makes you feel like a burnt out. Worthless. Insecure.

I mean, how times in the last month after you looked in the mirror and thought, "what does she have that I don't have?" And you stare into the mirror like it's the only thing that is going to give you the answer. It isn't.

Being 19 is that weird age because you aren't young enough to be innocent and but you aren't old enough to be at a bar thinking about the glory days either. So you are just stuck in that rut where you don't really know what you are after but you know something is missing. You're too young to feel like you are missing something, you haven't even experienced Margarita Monday yet!

The problem with growing up is that you make sacrifices, changes, and decisions that take you from a shy girl to a fearless woman. Young life is filled with so many many little experiences that separate ordinary days from extra ordinary days. And how easy it is to overlook these experiences. These moments pfpure laughter, sheer embarrassment, overwhelming joy, and even absolute sadness. These are the things that you will remember looking back.

Those boring nights of playing at the park or discussing life at Denny's, right now you think that won't miss them. Right now, you think you are bored out of your mind and why can't you win the lottery?! Some day, years from now you will miss those simple nights.

One day you will be 21, stuck at work, out of money, and you will miss when life was easier. You will miss when the only thing you worried about was if he read your text or choosing between Denny's and Taco Bell.

Everything passes, even these moments. They pass in a blink of and eye and they leave you with a bitter sweet memory. They leave you missing the crazy 3 a.m. summer nights. They leave you missing the lazy river at the public pool.

So before you think that your life is ending and that the rest of your life will be boring, I'm here to assure 100% that you are wrong. And also one day you will be a the bar drinking Vodka and Bruce Springsteen will come on and you will literally laugh out loud at the glory days.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
