To the person who struggles with risks:

I know you might be contemplating taking a major step in your life: a new wardrobe or even taking that travel destination that you so avidly Googled last year. I'm not writing this letter to stand on a soap box and preach about the importance of why 'taking risks is so important.'

I'm simply writing this in the hopes that I can help you take that step that you've put off so much.

Now, understand, that what seems like a big change to you doesn't necessarily mean the same for those around you, and that's quite alright. In fact, it's bound to happen. You're going to have people that view the term, 'taking risks,' way differently than yourself.

But to be honest with you, these are the people you simply don't need around you.

This doesn't imply be 'unkind,' or 'uncaring,' but it does say to believe in what you want to get done. Taking risks begins with your utmost belief that you can do so, and having people around that make you second guess that belief doesn't show support.

Am I stating scientific fact? No, but I am only speaking from personal experience. Am I the 'taking risks' expert? Far from it. But I do understand that a small word of encouragement goes a long way.

Change your wardrobe. Take that trip. Change your career. Do whatever is the most sensible for you. I'm talking about positive risks that will make the person you are really shine. The risks that will make you feel accomplished and conquered.

I'm not trying to speak from clichés, but this much is so true: you only get one life to live.

Who you are right now is what you have so make that count for something. The person you are at this very moment is enough validation to go out and make your dreams into realities. There is no force on earth that can make than untrue.

That closet is waiting to be filled. That plane ticket is waiting to be booked. That new career is waiting to begin.

May the world belong to the risk-takers amid the chaos that surrounds us all.

Now, go and pursue.

Cheers,

Jessica

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
