A Letter To The Brokenhearted

I'm starting a series! This is the first letter and I wanted to relate it to what I wrote about last week. To start things off, here's a letter to the brokenhearted.

The easy part is... well, there isn't an easy part to be quite honest.

They say that the brokenhearted are always the strongest. And while that is true, they don't give insight as to why we're the strongest. We spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, dealing with our pain. Holding it all in while the world keeps spinning. We sound like a broken record because the one thing, if not many, that has us in such great pain, will stick for as long as we breathe.

Of course, there are good days when you don't think about your pain, but when you're lying in bed or trying to be productive throughout your day, it all hits you. That's the treacherous part about heartbreak. It creeps in when you need for it to stay hidden. And when it does creep, it suffocates every inch of your being to the point where you're grasping for air, asking for it all to stop. The brokenhearted are the strongest.

But does anyone know how long it takes to heal? That's a trick question because we never fully do heal. It just isn't hanging over your shoulders anymore. That's why the brokenhearted are the strongest. Because the very thing that can bring us down will linger. But we pay less mind to it. We push it away because we know we have other things to deal with.

And to the brokenhearted I say this: Congratulations, you're one step closer to finding peace within yourself. You're one step closer to pushing it way back with all other heartaches. And I'm sorry. I am truly sorry that someone or something hurt you so badly that you find it difficult to do much of anything. You find it hard to smile sincerely. You find it hard to be the person you once were. And I'm sorry for whoever hurt you. You fell and they weren't there to catch you. Let me help you wipe the dirt off your heart. It won't ever truly mend.

But my advice to you is to not wallow in self-pity for long. Try as hard as you can to move forward. Remember that you are worth so much more than that person(s) made you feel. And keep your guard up to the maximum.

Don't ever allow yourself to feel as terrible as the aching feels. Focus on what really matters, you, and I promise that one day someone will come into your life and try so hard to make you happy. Don't make it easy but don't make it impossible.

You are a beautiful creation.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
