Dear step-siblings,

8 years ago I was unaware of what was about to enter my life. Growing up it was just my siblings and my parents and me and all the sudden a new family was going to combine with mine. Being completely honest I was terrified and unaware of how amazing my life was about to be, I wasn't fully accepting for a little while but I'm so glad I changed that. Having step-siblings is an odd concept at first, it's meshing two families together and hoping for the best, it's making new memories with new people, it's making two families become one.

Accepting step-siblings is difficult at first, but once the families come together it turns into an endless amount of hugs, laughs, and love. Although I don't see you guys every day, I'm always excited when we are all finally in the same house and catching up like we never left off. When mom updates me on how everyone is doing and what they've been up to, I always want to reach out and get all the little details and let you guys know how much I love you.

When people ask how many siblings I have I add all of my step siblings too, surprising them immediately with how many that adds up too I later have to explain that I include my step-siblings in there too. I count you guys as my siblings and don't separate you because we come from separate families. We may come from separate families, but we're a family now. Having a meshed family can be interesting sometimes but it's totally worth all of the scheduling conflicts.

I know I don't tell you enough that I am so thankful you are in my life. I'm thankful that the team of loving people who support me in all I do has grown and I'm thankful to be making more memories with you all. In the last 8 years I have had to take some time to adjust but getting to know each one of you more and more has been a breeze. Thank you for accepting me as one of your siblings as well.

I am blessed with a large crazy family and I can't wait until we are all together again. I hope you are well and that you know how much I appreciate you and love you.

Love,

Your step sister

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
