Momma,
I am writing you this letter to show you how much I adore and appreciate everything you have done for me. You've taught me a lot about myself and if it weren't for you, maybe I wouldn't be the woman I am today. You've always told me that you'll be there for me whenever I need you to be, and when I left for college I thought that invitation was closed. Little did I know our relationship would blossom into what it is today. Your never ending thirst to sculpt me into a lady is something I know will help me forever. There is so much I've learned from you and you continuously teach me more and more about the world and the people in it. Thank you is an understatement.
Thank you for knowing who my real friends were before I could realize it.
I could really go on and on about this one. Thank you for always watching over me and showing me what true friendship looks like. You've always shown me that who you surround yourself with will rub off on you and to always surround myself with the best people I can. You are always able to spot that friend that may not be so good for me and you are always the first to say something. I love you for that.
Thank you for being the purest example of joy.
Momma, I don't know how you do it, This world is so messed up. How is it that I always see you full of light and full of joy? Thank you for always being a source of happiness for me, your brightness is contagious and it's so hard to be grumpy around you. You never coat your feelings, your happiness is always true and pure. I love you for that.
Thank you for showing me to get up and get myself together.
Honestly this used to tick me off. No mom, I don't want to get out of bed and I ABSOLUTELY don't want to put myself together. Are you crazy? Netflix and I have a casual date; chill. Thankfully, now I understand what you really meant. Wake up and make the day mine. Who cares what you're going through? Get up and put on a smile, the world will go on with or without you. It's up to you to make the most of it. You've always pushed me to be the best me. I love you for that.
Thank you for always having my back.
Time and time again, I need you. I have continuously put myself in a position that I can't get myself out of and you come in to save the day. Thank you for always believing that I'm better than what I make myself believe I am. Thank you for always being on my side. You've never made me feel like there is something I can't do. I love you for that.
Thank you for showing me true love.
You and daddy are my biggest role models in every aspect of my life, especially this one. You are so goofy and dad loves you unconditionally. Dad is so hardworking and adamant about things being done right, and you love him extra for it. Thank you for showing me what to look for in a relationship. You hold values that everyone should look for in relationships. I love you for that.
Mom, there's a lot to say about you. You are beautiful, kind, selfless, and balanced. I want to be just like you when I'm older and if I'm not... I'm making a time machine so I can go back and try again. Thank God for letting you be my momma, there's no one else I'd rather let love me.
