A Letter To My Future Roomates
Emilia Ascanio

Dear future roommates,

We have picked out an apartment building. We have chosen our rooms. We have signed our lease. It is finally official - we are living together next year. I am so excited to be living with you guys, but I think there are a couple things that you guys should know.

  1. I will cook for you guys whenever you want, as long as someone else washes the dishes. I will take requests, I will bake whenever, but the rule is if I am cooking someone else is cleaning.
  2. There will be times when I am going to need to be alone. Yes need, not want. As someone with the amazing quality of having anxiety, there are moments when my body just can’t deal with being around others. But trust me, I still love you guys.
  3. I will become your interim mother while at school. I will make sure you have eaten enough, have you put on sunscreen when you go outside, take care of when you when are sick, and so much more.
  4. You will experience just how loud I can be. Not only do I have little to no control of my voice, but I also talk in my sleep. Sometimes it is coherent and sometimes it seems like I’m chanting a satanic ritual. Have fun with that.
  5. My heart will be overflown with love for you guys. I will be so happy to see you guys every night, to go out with you guys, have dinner and just spend time on our phones. I am looking forward to the moments with my can’t hang squad president, my t-rex, and my “I’m fine” girlies.

No matter what, I know I am about to experience one of the best things of my life. I am about to spend the next year with the funniest, cutest, smartest, and most loving girls I have met in a while. I can’t wait to introduce you to my best friends. I can’t wait for you guys to become some of my best friends. Here is to the next year together!

Love,

Emilia

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
