A Letter To My Best Friends From High School

A Letter To My Best Friends From High School
Tina Martin

Look at us now, all grown up and out in the big scary world. In high school, we would sit at lunch together, walked to class together, and so on and would complain about this small town, and how we can’t wait to leave.

Always talking about how we will be in each other’s weddings, and visit each other when we are at our separate colleges. How we would never grow apart and always be there for each other.

I think we can all agree by now, all of that has probably changed.

With the large amounts of time apart, being in different places, and meeting different people, we all have definitely changed since we last saw each other. We have learned a lot more about ourselves, have gone through either good times or bad, and matured a lot more since last time.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all. I know we are caught up in our social lives, our school work, our jobs. After we walk out those doors after graduation, you most likely won’t see most of those people ever again.

We may stay in this small town, and we may leave. Some will move on to other things. Some can maybe even disappear. But it all comes down to this, whoever makes an effort to stay in your life, will stay. But if not, then they aren’t worth your time.

This also isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all. It’s life. And not everything ends badly. We all grow up and grow apart, and that’s completely okay.

However, you do cross my mind from time to time. Hoping everything for you is doing well. Especially when I’m back home for some time, I wonder a little bit if we still could pick up where we left off.

We had so many good times together, and I when I take a walk down memory lane, I think to myself that I would never want to change a single thing about you all. You have all taught me so much. Though we are long apart, you have made such a large impact on my life.

I hope you are doing well, and know that I am keeping you all in mind.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
